2019 Antibiotic Resistance Threats Report
Displayed at United Nation General Assembly, AMR Challenge
The Antibiotic Resistance Threats in the United States report profiles the deadliest antibiotic-resistant bacteria and outlines their current levels of urgency. It highlights the impact of dedicated prevention and infection control efforts, which reduced deaths from resistant infections by 18% overall and 30% in hospitals across the U.S. The report serves as a guide for policy development and investment in the fight against antimicrobial resistance. Heightened public engagement remains critical to sustaining progress.
My team created 21 high-resolution 3D medical images of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and fungi—18 priority threats and 3 from the watch list—designed for broadcast media, web, and print. These visuals continue to appear across news outlets, scientific publications, and online platforms. The making of the campaign was a concentrated effort amongst designers, medical illustrators and public health professionals.
Developed as a call to action, these images help raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance and reinforce the importance of public health efforts.
